Our history

1949
Nippon Electrical Equipments Co., Ltd, later changed its name to NIPPONDENSO CO., LTD., split from Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., and was established as a separate entity.
1953
Started technical cooperation with Robert Bosch GmbH of Germany.
This agreement allowed us to expand our technical expertise using knowledge from outside the company, to achieve world-class engineering.
1954
Started the Assigned Service Station System by establishing regional service plants.
Today, a global service network is in place to improve services for our end users in different regions around the world.
Foundation of the Poirino plant
1983-84
The origins date back to the 1980s, when the FIAT Group decided to set up an organizational unit dedicated to Poirino, where the first commercial, product development and administrative functions are also located. Thus was born Heating s.r.l.

1986-87
As part of the reorganization of all the components of the Fiat Group and the establishment of the Magneti Marelli Sector, a specific Product Division was set up.

Poirino begins a design phase, with the construction of molds and the production of parts based on its own projects and not only on projects developed by Fiat.

A new ALLIANCE
August 1990
An agreement was signed with the company NIPPONDENSO, which will later become simply DENSO, which acquires 25% of the company's share package.

A further agreement is signed with DENSO to strengthen product skills, with the help of Japanese managers in Poirino, there is a strong acceleration in the development of both the product and the production process.

International expansion
1996-2000
The International activity multiplies with the creation of new production sites in Argentina (1996), Brazil (1997) and India (1998). Joao de Deus was also acquired in 1996, a Portuguese company with a long tradition, active in the Aftermarket sector.

DENSO THERMAL SYSTEMS S.p.a. was born
2001
On 30 April, after the organizational reorganization of the Fiat group components, the Thermal Systems Division of Magneti Marelli (MMCL) was entirely acquired by DENSO CORPORATION. A new factory is born in Brazil.

The O.R.S.A. - Off-Road & Special Applications Business Unit was established from the need of differentiate between automotive and off-road applications.

A new Business Unit was established, based in Carmagnola (TO), fully dedicated to the Aftermarket in order to develop sales in the independent market.
2005
Established DENSO Training Academy Thailand, our first overseas regional training center.
A system was established to provide education for engineers and technicians at a regional level, rather than just at the global head office.
2012-13
Transfer of the Aftermarket BU division to the new headquarters in Poirino, where there is still one of the largest automatic warehouses in the world.
2016
Created the DENSO ECO VISION 2025
This action plain aims to tackle issues such as the environment and energy usage.
